The Town Planners Registration Board (TPRB) has issued a firm warning to individuals and companies in Tanzania regarding the legal requirements for practicing town planning.
The Board emphasized that under Sections 22, 23, and 24 of the Town Planners Registration Act (Cap. 426), it is illegal for anyone to engage in town planning activities without proper registration.
The notice stresses that registered professionals must strictly adhere to established laws, regulations, and professional guidelines.
Failure to comply could result in serious consequences, including cancellation of registration, bans from practicing, or even criminal prosecution.
The Board also urged citizens and stakeholders to ensure that they only seek services from registered town planners, registered firms, or relevant planning authorities.
This measure is intended to safeguard the public from potential land disputes and ensure compliance with the law.
TPRB confirmed that it is actively monitoring town planning activities across the country and warned that legal action will be taken against those found violating the regulations.
The notice was issued by the Acting Registrar in Dodoma, with the Board encouraging members of the public to verify professionals and report any irregularities through official channels.
