Flying Family Choir set to celebrate Christmas with classical music at Mlimani City

By The Respondents Reporter

As the festive season approaches, the Flying Family Choir is preparing to enchant Dar es Salaam residents with a special classical music concert at Mlimani City Hall on December 7.

The event comes ahead of Christmas, a celebration that unites Christians worldwide in worship, fellowship, and joy.

Founded in 2018, the choir brings together singers from different Christian denominations with a mission to promote unity and love among believers through music.

Over the years, Flying Family has organised major concerts that have drawn worshippers, religious leaders, and government officials, creating a platform for shared celebration and spiritual reflection.

Speaking to journalists, Innocent Fundisha, chairman of the concert organising committee, said preparations for the event are progressing smoothly and encouraged the public to attend.

He emphasised that although classical music is challenging, the choir has dedicated itself to high-level rehearsals aimed at entertaining the audience while praising God in spirit and truth.

The upcoming concert is set to feature compositions by legendary classical musicians such as George Handel, Wolfgang Mozart, Johann Bach, Joseph Haydn, Felix Mendelssohn, and Antonio Vivaldi, alongside pieces created by prominent Tanzanian composers including David Wasonga, John Mgandu, Egidius Mushumbusi, and Mathias Msafiri.

Fundisha highlighted that the event will draw attendance from leading religious figures in Dar es Salaam, including bishops from Catholic, Anglican, and Lutheran churches.

Government officials, diplomats, and worshippers from across the country are also expected to be part of the audience, underlining the choir’s commitment to fostering unity across denominations and communities.

Flying Family rehearses every Sunday afternoon, using both in-person sessions and digital platforms to ensure each member is fully prepared.

Choir teachers employ modern methods, including recording and reviewing performances, to refine members’ skills.

This approach has helped the choir maintain a high standard, attracting growing recognition locally and ambitions for international acclaim.

The choir’s overarching goal, Fundisha explained, is to unite Christians through music while encouraging young people to use their talents for spiritual growth and moral development.

He urged all worshippers to collaborate across denominational lines, highlighting that music is a shared gift that transcends differences.

Tickets for the concert are available across the city, with provisions for food and drinks on the day, offering participants a full festive experience.

Flying Family also extended gratitude to the community, religious leaders, and supporters for sustaining their work and invited well-wishers to contribute to the choir’s ongoing activities.

The December 7 concert promises to be a memorable celebration of faith, music, and unity, reflecting the choir’s mission of connecting hearts through the universal language of song.
