Dar es Salaam is preparing for a major civic moment as President Samia Suluhu Hassan is scheduled to meet with elders from the region on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, in an engagement expected to offer guidance and reassurance to the nation.

Regional Commissioner Albert Chalamila told journalists in Dar es Salaam that the President’s decision to convene the dialogue reflects her resolve to strengthen national unity and deepen trust between citizens and their government.

He said the meeting shows the President’s commitment to open conversation at a time when Tanzania is working to reinforce peace, social cohesion, and democratic values.

The forum, to be held at the Julius Nyerere International Convention Centre from 11 a.m., will give citizens across the country a chance to follow the President’s national address on key issues of public interest.

Chalamila encouraged all Tanzanians to tune in, describing the event as an important moment for collective reflection and national direction.

He appealed to residents of Dar es Salaam especially young people to continue supporting efforts to maintain the city’s security.

Stability in the commercial capital, he said, is essential for sustaining development activities that support millions of people in the region and beyond.

Chalamila added that regional authorities are working to restore and enhance essential public services in line with the President’s directives.

This includes strengthening the city’s bus rapid transit (BRT) system and improving overall service delivery to ensure Dar es Salaam remains safe, functional, and dependable.

As the city awaits the December 2 engagement, many view President Samia’s dialogue with elders as a timely and constructive step toward reaffirming unity, restoring confidence, and guiding the country forward.
