The Medical Stores Department (MSD) has been recognised for its role as a sponsor and participant in the Fourth National Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Conference 2025, held in Mwanza from September 10 to 13.
The conference, organised by the Prime Minister’s Office: Policy, Parliament and Coordination (PMO-PPC), ran under the theme “Community-Led M&E: Building Local Capacity and MEL Ownership”, highlighting the importance of community participation in monitoring and evaluation processes, as well as the need to strengthen local capacity and ownership.
The event was officially opened by Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa and is expected to close under the patronage of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Energy, Doto Mashaka Biteko.
The agency’s participation provided opportunities to learn, share experiences, and showcase its commitment to delivering reliable health services through robust M&E practices.
“The MEL framework is vital for improving accountability and ensuring evidence-based decision-making in all sectors, including health,” MSD officials noted during the event.
As one of the sponsors, MSD’s recognition reflected its contribution to strengthening Tanzania’s monitoring and evaluation systems, particularly in the health sector.
The conference brought together a wide range of stakeholders, including government ministries, civil society organisations, the private sector, development partners, and community representatives, all aiming to improve project management and service delivery through data-driven approaches
