Yanga to expand championship membership drive to Rwanda

Young Africans SC (Yanga) is set to take its prestigious “Championship Brick” membership registration drive beyond Tanzania’s borders for the first time, with plans to hold the event in Rwanda.

This initiative will coincide with the club’s international friendly match against Rayon Sports, scheduled for August 15 in Kigali.

According to Yanga’s Media and Communications Manager, Ally Kamwe, the club deliberately chose to move the membership registration drive outside the usual Tanzanian cities of Dar es Salaam, Mwanza, and Iringa, in an effort to grow their fan base regionally.

“This year, we aim to break new ground. The initial delegation, including myself and the Registration Department spokesperson Jimmy Kindoki, will depart on August 12 to lay the groundwork and build enthusiasm for the campaign. We have passionate supporters beyond Tanzania’s borders, and this effort is meant to engage them directly,” Kamwe said.

He further emphasized that fans planning to travel to Rwanda to cheer on the team should coordinate with the club’s management for official registration and travel arrangements to ensure their presence is properly acknowledged.

The friendly match will also serve as a platform to introduce Yanga’s new players ahead of the 2025/26 season, allowing fans to witness fresh talent in action.

Meanwhile, Jimmy Kindoki highlighted that the membership registration campaign will actively target Tanzanian fans traveling to Rwanda and will officially launch at the WanaYanga branch in Kigali.

“During our visit to Rwanda last year, we received a high volume of membership requests. This year, we are returning with renewed commitment to bring our services closer to Yanga supporters in Rwanda,” Kindoki remarked.
