Yanga SC sign TZS 21.7 billion sponsorship deal with SportPesa

Young Africans SC (Yanga) and SportPesa have signed a new sponsorship agreement worth TSh 21.7 billion, set to run for the next three years.

Speaking on August 11, 2025, during the signing ceremony, SportPesa Board Chairman Abbas Tarimbo said the deal will boost Yanga’s ambitions of becoming champions of Africa.

He added that, in addition to the sponsorship, the company has set aside significant bonuses for the club’s international matches.

“Since we partnered with Yanga, we have strengthened the club financially, enabling them to sign players from any club. This has also given them the ability to sell players because they can easily replace them with quality signings,” Tarimbo stated.

He noted that SportPesa’s involvement in football is driven by a long-term vision, highlighting the company’s history of sponsoring major clubs such as Arsenal, Hull City, Everton, the Kenyan Premier League, and several other teams.

“When we looked at Tanzania, we realized Yanga was the right club to achieve our dreams with. Yanga has a huge fan base, and we trusted its leadership to help transform Tanzanian football,” he added.

Yanga President Engineer Hersi Said described the partnership as mutually beneficial.

“We are happy to announce the extension of our three-year contract with our main sponsor,” he said. “Before SportPesa came on board, despite Yanga’s size and history, we struggled to attract top players and faced challenges even when traveling. Today, Yanga competes for players from some of Africa’s biggest clubs, and this success is thanks to SportPesa’s support.”

Yanga’s Media and Communications Manager, Ally Kamwe, said the club accepted SportPesa’s historic offer despite receiving other tempting proposals.

“Since yesterday, we have dominated national headlines. We received other offers which we declined, and later announced this historic sponsorship from our main partner, SportPesa,” Kamwe said.
