The national football team, Taifa Stars, is in full preparation mode at the Gymkhana Ground ahead of their decisive African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024 group stage match against the Central African Republic, set for August 16 at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
Although Tanzania has already secured a spot in the quarter-finals after an unbeaten run in Group B winning all three matches and collecting nine points Head Coach Hemed Seleiman “Morocco” insists the mission is not over.
“Even though we are 100 percent through to the quarter-finals, our goal is to finish the group stage with a perfect record. We want to win this last match and secure all three points. We’ve been working on fixing mistakes and strengthening all areas of the squad to ensure we deliver another strong performance,” Morocco said.
The match against the Central African Republic will be the Stars’ final chance to showcase their dominance in the group stage, and Morocco is keen to keep the winning momentum alive as they head into the knockout phase.
Meanwhile, Executive Director of the Culture Fund, Nyakaho Mahemba, has urged fans to come out in large numbers and rally behind the team.
“I call on all Tanzanians to unite and support Taifa Stars this Saturday, August 16, at the Mkapa Stadium. Let’s fill the stands, cheer them on, and give them the motivation they need to finish strong,” Mahemba said.
With home advantage, an unbeaten record, and a spot in the quarter-finals already secured, Taifa Stars are determined to deliver yet another memorable performance in front of their fans.
