Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa today represented President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan at the funeral of the late Speaker of the National Assembly, Job Yustino Ndugai.
The solemn event was held at the late leader’s farm in Msunjulile village, Kongwa district, Dodoma region.
In his remarks during the funeral service, the Prime Minister called on all Tanzanians to honor and uphold the positive legacy left by the late Ndugai.
He stressed that Ndugai’s leadership in Parliament and his wider contributions to the nation would remain a lasting inspiration for future generations.
“Serving as the elected representative of the people of Kongwa, the late Ndugai devoted over two decades to public service,” Majaliwa said.
“We are all witnesses to the significant development progress made in various sectors and social services under his stewardship. The government will continue to celebrate and honor his invaluable work for the people of Kongwa.”he added
Prime Minister Majaliwa also highlighted Ndugai’s role as a steadfast guardian of parliamentary procedures and a key partner in fostering strong collaboration between the Parliament and the Government for the benefit of the entire country.
He emphasized the importance of open communication, unity, and shared commitment to advancing national priorities.
Describing the late Speaker as a leader of professionalism, integrity, humility, and dedication, Majaliwa noted how Ndugai carried the pride of Dodoma region and Kongwa constituency through accountable governance and principled politics.
The Prime Minister further assured that the government would fully implement President Dr. Samia’s directives to complete all initiatives started by the late Ndugai.
He pledged to sustain the development of the Kongwa memorial as a symbol of the struggle for freedom in Southern Africa. “We will ensure these directives are carried out to the letter,” he said.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy, Dr. Doto Biteko, extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, the people of Kongwa, and all Tanzanians affected by the passing of the late leader.
Speaker of Parliament Dr. Tulia Ackson paid tribute to Ndugai’s legacy, affirming that his commitment to principles and his many achievements would forever be remembered by the nation.
The funeral drew a wide array of dignitaries, including the Secretary-General of the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar, Engineer Zena Saidi; Deputy Secretary-General of CCM Mainland, John Mongela; former Prime Minister Mizengo Pinda; other national leaders; relatives; and thousands of citizens from across the country.
Job Ndugai passed away on August 6, 2025, in Dodoma due to complications from critically low blood pressure. His death marks the loss of a prominent statesman who played a key role in Tanzania’s parliamentary and political landscape.
