The Tanzania Swimming Association (TSA) is aiming to raise $7,000 through a special fundraising event Swim Carnival Fundraising set for August 8 at the Shaban Robert School swimming pool in Dar es Salaam.
The funds will support preparations for Tanzania’s national youth swimming team and help cover travel expenses for their participation in the upcoming World Youth Swimming Championships scheduled for August 15–25 in Romania.
Speaking to The Respondent Online, TSA’s Technical Director Amina Mfaume said the initiative is crucial to ensuring the team is fully prepared and able to represent the country on the global stage.
“This is our version of a charity run only this one takes place in water,” she said. “Our previous event helped us secure enough funds to take our swimmers to Kenya to apply for visas. Now we’re calling on supporters once again to help make this international journey a success.”
TSA has extended invitations to schools, sports partners, and other stakeholders to take part in the event and support the team’s mission.
Amina added that the youth swimmers are currently undergoing intensive training to build their physical and mental readiness for the competition.
Those selected to represent Tanzania in Romania include Filbertha Demello, Bridget Heep, Romeo Mihaly Mwaipasi, Austin Okore, and Mark Tibazarwa.
