In a major financial breakthrough, Simba Sports Club has secured a TSh20 billion sponsorship deal with global betting firm Betway.
The three year agreement makes Betway the club’s main sponsor, underscoring Simba's growing commercial appeal across the continent.
Announced on July 29, 2025, during a press conference in Dar es Salaam, the deal is one of the most lucrative in Tanzanian football history.
Speaking at the signing event, Betway’s Head of Sponsorship, Mr Joson Shield, said the decision to partner with Simba was driven by the club’s stature and influence in African football.
“Simba is a giant in African football, with a massive following and proven track record. This partnership reflects our commitment to supporting the growth of the sport on the continent,” said Mr Shield.
He added that Betway intends to work closely with the club to ensure both parties achieve their strategic goals.
Simba SC Board Member, Mr Salum Mhene, popularly known as "Try Again", welcomed the partnership, stating that it will help the club improve on and off the pitch.
“This sponsorship will enable us to strengthen our squad, compete better in local and international competitions, and continue growing as an institution,” he said.
The deal has also been applauded by the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF), with its First Vice President, Mr Athumani Nyamlani, describing it as a transformative moment for the club.
“I commend Simba for securing such a high-value sponsorship. It’s a reflection of the club’s professionalism and vision. I urge the leadership to use the funds prudently to further develop the team,” Mr Nyamlani said.
Simba SC Chief Executive Officer, Ms Zubeda Sakuru, noted that the partnership would usher in a new era for the club and emphasized the importance of continued fan engagement.
