The Tanzania national women’s football team, Twiga Stars, will play its third match of the 2025 CECAFA Senior Women’s Championship today, taking on Uganda at the Azam Complex Stadium in Chamazi, Dar es Salaam.

Twiga Stars are in top form, having won both of their opening matches and currently leading their group with six points. Uganda, meanwhile, has played three matches, winning one and losing two, leaving them with just three points.

Tanzania’s head coach, Bakari Shime, says his team is fully prepared for the challenge and determined to secure another victory.

"Uganda is a strong and competitive team, but we have prepared well and are confident in our ability to get a positive result. Our goal is to earn all three points," said Coach Shime.

He also called on local fans to show up and support the team, highlighting the importance of home support in boosting the players' morale.

"I urge Tanzanians to come and cheer for their national team. Your support gives us the strength to perform better and helps us stay focused on our goals. This tournament is also part of our preparations for the upcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), which will take place next month in Morocco," he added.

In another fixture today, Kenya will face South Sudan in what promises to be a thrilling encounter at the same venue.
