Dar es Salaam. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy, Dr. Doto Biteko, has applauded Super Star Forwarders (SSF) and TotalEnergies for achieving high transport safety standards, describing the companies as exemplary players in Tanzania’s logistics and energy sectors.
Dr. Biteko made the remarks yesterday in Dar es Salaam during celebrations marking 30 years of partnership between SSF and TotalEnergies.
He said the long-standing collaboration has significantly contributed to the reliable supply of fuel in the country, created employment for Tanzanian youth, and attracted cargo transit from neighbouring countries through the Port of Dar es Salaam.
“We are gathered here to celebrate three decades of partnership between TotalEnergies and SSF. Their collaboration has set a commendable standard in the transport of petroleum products using specialized tankers. Personally, I am impressed. Congratulations,” said Dr. Biteko.
He urged other logistics and transport operators to emulate the companies by prioritizing road safety and installing critical safety equipment such as GPS tracking systems to meet national and international transport standards.
Dr. Biteko reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting the private sector by formulating predictable policies that protect investors and attract more long-term investment into the energy and logistics industries.
“The government will continue working closely with business players, ensuring a favourable operating environment for transporters and energy investors alike,” he said.
For his part, Minister for Transport Prof. Makame Mbarawa warned that road safety is not just a policy matter but a national priority, noting that road accidents cause significant economic and human loss.
“We must treat road safety as an urgent national concern. Transporters must adhere to road regulations and use existing infrastructure responsibly,” Prof. Mbarawa said.
French Ambassador to Tanzania, Anne-Sophie Avé, noted that the anniversary was a proud moment for both France and Tanzania, describing the SSF–TotalEnergies partnership as a model for sustainable cooperation. She pointed to joint efforts in driver training and implementation of advanced safety systems as key highlights of the partnership.
Super Star Forwarders Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Seif A. Seif, used the occasion to thank President Samia Suluhu Hassan for creating an enabling environment for investment, which he said has helped to grow and strengthen the country’s transport and logistics sector.
“We commend President Samia for her visionary leadership. Her administration’s efforts have made it possible for partnerships like ours to thrive and contribute meaningfully to national development,” said Mr. Seif.
TotalEnergies’ Senior Vice President for Marketing Services in Africa, Mr. Jean Philippe Torres, also commended the Tanzanian government, reaffirming the company’s commitment to supporting Tanzania’s energy transformation agenda.
“We appreciate Tanzania’s commitment to creating a stable investment environment. TotalEnergies remains dedicated to advancing the country’s energy sector,” he said.
The event underscored the strategic importance of safe transport in the fuel supply chain and highlighted the growing role of private sector collaboration in advancing Tanzania’s infrastructure and energy goals.
