In a move to enhance Tanzania’s investment landscape, the Tanzania Investment Centre (TIC) has signed a collaborative agreement with Airtel Tanzania to strengthen networking and connectivity for TIC services.

The partnership, signed by Gileard Teri, Executive Director of TIC, aims to improve digital communication and internet services across the Centre's regional offices, including Dodoma, Northern Tanzania (Moshi), Southern Highlands (Mbeya), and the Eastern Zone covering Dar es Salaam, Coast, Lindi, and Mtwara regions.

"We didn’t hesitate to enter into this agreement with Airtel Tanzania, especially considering the government holds a 49% stake in Airtel. We are embarking on this two-year partnership with a focus on several key specifics,” Mr. Teri stated during the signing ceremony.

The partnership is part of TIC's broader vision to become a fully digital institution by 2028.

Mr. Teri highlighted that the collaboration will significantly enhance TIC’s online services, particularly through the One Stop Facilitation Centre and the Tanzania Electronic Investment Window.

These digital platforms streamline investment processes and improve service delivery for investors.

“TIC is already utilizing these services to register investment projects, and with this partnership, we anticipate even more improvements to our services,” Mr. Teri added.

He also emphasized that this connectivity boost is expected to catalyze investment growth across the country.

A recent TIC report indicated notable growth in the second quarter of this year, further underscoring the positive trajectory of Tanzania's investment environment.

Airtel Tanzania’s Managing Director, Dinesh Balsingh, expressed his gratitude to TIC for the opportunity to partner on such a critical initiative.

The deal, valued at over TZS 600 million for the two-year period, has the potential for extension based on mutual agreement.

“This collaboration marks a significant step in attracting both foreign and domestic investors. By streamlining and accelerating industrial investments, we aim to make Tanzania a preferred destination for investors,” Mr. Balsingh remarked.

He also acknowledged the Tanzanian government's efforts under the leadership of President Samia Suluhu Hassan, noting the facilitation of over 450 new investment projects.

This, he said, has opened up new opportunities for Tanzanians and positioned the country as a growing hub for investment.
