Vice President Deogratius Ndejembi on Monday joined senior government leaders, family members and mourners at the funeral of Hafidh Ameir Hassan, husband of President Samia Suluhu Hassan, in Kizimkazi, South Unguja.
The burial ceremony, held on September 7, 2026, was attended by senior government officials, former national leaders, religious leaders, political party representatives, members of the Judiciary and Parliament, and heads of defence and security organs.
Family members, friends and mourners from different parts of Tanzania and abroad also gathered in Kizimkazi to pay their final respects to Mr Hassan.
Mr Hassan died earlier on Monday at Emilio Mzena Memorial Hospital in Zanzibar, where he had been receiving medical treatment.
His death comes as the nation mourns alongside President Samia and the bereaved family, with leaders and citizens extending condolences following the loss.
