The Tanzania National Commission for UNESCO has joined government leaders in extending condolences to President Samia Suluhu Hassan following the death of her husband, Maalim Hafidh Ameir Hassan.
The Commission’s Executive Secretary, Prof Hamisi Masanja Malebo, was part of a delegation of ministry officials that visited President Samia at her home in Kizimkazi, South Unguja, on September 11 to convey condolences to her and her family.
Maalim Hafidh died on September 7 at Emilio Mzena Memorial Hospital in Zanzibar.
Prof Malebo joined the delegation in expressing sympathy to President Samia and her family as they mourn the death.
The Commission said it stood with the President, her family, relatives and others affected by the loss during the mourning period.
It also wished President Samia and her family strength, comfort and patience as they come to terms with the loss.
The Commission said it would continue to stand with the family in mourning and honouring the memory of Maalim Hafidh.
