Deputy Minister for Energy Salome Makamba has asked Vice President Deogratius Ndejembi to remain a mentor and trusted adviser to the Ministry of Energy following his departure from the ministry.
Ms Makamba made the remarks on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, during a farewell ceremony for Mr Ndejembi at the Treasury Square Hall in Dodoma. Mr Ndejembi previously served as Minister for Energy before being appointed Vice President.
She thanked the Vice President for his leadership, guidance and cooperation during the more than 10 months they worked together at the ministry, saying the experience had strengthened her leadership and approach to public service.
“During your leadership, I learnt three important things: love and appreciation, maintaining good relationships, working collaboratively and having the courage to make decisions based on national interests rather than personal interests,” Ms Makamba said.
She described Mr Ndejembi as an important influence in her development as a government leader, saying his leadership had contributed to her becoming one of the stronger deputy ministers in Parliament and the Cabinet.
Ms Makamba said ministry leaders and officials would continue building on the foundations laid during Mr Ndejembi’s tenure, particularly by ensuring that development projects in the energy sector are completed on time.
She also thanked President Samia Suluhu Hassan for entrusting Mr Ndejembi with senior national leadership responsibilities, saying the appointment reflected continued confidence in his ability to serve the country and had strengthened public trust in the Energy Ministry.
Ms Makamba further appealed to Mr Ndejembi to remain closely connected to the ministry despite his new responsibilities.
“Although you have left the Energy Ministry, we ask you to remain part of the ministry family and continue to be our mentor. Whenever we need your advice, we ask you to receive and guide us, and where we make mistakes, please correct us so that we can improve and continue building and strengthening the energy sector,” she said.
Mr Ndejembi’s departure comes as Tanzania continues implementing major investments in electricity generation, transmission and other energy infrastructure aimed at supporting industrialisation and economic growth.
Ms Makamba said the ministry would maintain the spirit of cooperation and accountability established during his tenure as it works to advance the government’s energy agenda.
