The Mining Commission has released new indicative mineral prices for September 2, 2026, showing the international gold price at US$4,368.15 per troy ounce, equivalent to TZS 372,352.01 per gram.
According to the commission’s latest price update, the mineral market price for gold stands at TZS 335,116.81 per gram, while the buying centre price is TZS 327,669.77 per gram.
The figures provide an important reference for gold traders, miners and other stakeholders in Tanzania’s mineral value chain, particularly small-scale miners who rely on official market information when negotiating the sale of their production.
The commission also published indicative prices for copper. The world market price is US$6.53 per pound, equivalent to TZS 38.18 per gram.
The mineral market price is TZS 34.36 per gram, while the buying centre price stands at TZS 33.60 per gram.
The publication of indicative prices is aimed at improving transparency in mineral trading and helping miners understand prevailing market values for their commodities.
For small-scale miners, access to up-to-date price information can strengthen their bargaining position and help them make better decisions on where and when to sell their minerals.
The latest figures come as Tanzania continues efforts to strengthen the formalisation of the mining sector, increase government revenue from minerals and ensure miners receive fairer returns from the country’s mineral wealth.
The Mining Commission advises stakeholders to use the officially announced indicative prices as a reference when conducting mineral transactions.
