Chinese sports infrastructure company Jiangsu Zhonglu Sports Culture Development Co. Ltd has pledged to continue supporting the development of sports infrastructure in Tanzania, with a focus on facilities that can benefit athletes, young people and surrounding communities.
The company has been involved in sports infrastructure projects in Tanzania as a strategic partner and specialist provider of sports equipment and stadium construction services, including artificial turf, modern LED lighting systems and athletics tracks, working alongside major Chinese construction companies.
Speaking in Dar es Salaam on September 19, 2026, the company’s chief executive officer, Xi Minjie, said Jiangsu Zhonglu planned to expand its involvement in building high-quality sports facilities in Tanzania and other parts of Africa.
“Tanzania is a very beautiful country and its people are very welcoming. We have known Tanzania for a long time. People here love sports and have great energy and enthusiasm,” Mr Xi said.
He said the company’s work at Uhuru Stadium presented an important opportunity to bring Chinese technical expertise to Tanzania while working with local professionals to develop a modern and durable facility.
“Working at Uhuru Stadium is a great opportunity for us, but it is also our responsibility to bring expertise from China and work together with Tanzanians to build a stadium that is good, strong and attractive for everyone,” he said.
Mr Xi, who said he had participated in sports while he was a student, said quality sports infrastructure was important not only for competitions but also for athletes’ safety and performance.
“A sports field is not just a place for playing. It also helps keep athletes safe and enables them to perform better during training and competitions. It is also very important for students and young people,” he said.
He said Jiangsu Zhonglu uses equipment sourced from different parts of the world and holds professional certifications aimed at ensuring the quality of its sports infrastructure services.
Mr Xi acknowledged that the use of high-quality materials could increase construction costs but said the company’s priority was to ensure that its facilities met required standards, were safe and could remain functional for many years.
He said the company would continue working with sports stakeholders in Tanzania and across Africa to promote investment in sports infrastructure and ensure that such projects deliver benefits beyond the facilities themselves.
The company said its long-term focus was to support athletes and young people while ensuring local communities also benefit from improved sports facilities.
