Mbeya. The national chairman of the Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) youth wing, UVCCM, Mohammed Kawaida, is expected to visit Chunya District on September 14, where he will meet young people and hear their concerns, including access to loans, jobs and opportunities in mining and agriculture.
The visit comes as youth groups in the district seek greater access to economic opportunities and solutions to challenges affecting their businesses and livelihoods.
Chunya UVCCM chairman and Lualaje Ward councillor Leckson Mwakasuluka said the visit would give young people from different groups an opportunity to raise issues directly with their leaders.
He said concerns requiring decisions beyond the district level would be referred to higher party organs, including the CCM Central Committee.
Mr Mwakasuluka said Mr Kawaida would also assess the implementation of the CCM manifesto, particularly the use of four percent of councils’ own-source revenue set aside for loans to young people.
“He will meet youth groups that have benefited from council loans to hear about their achievements, the challenges they face and how these opportunities can be improved to support their economic activities,” he said.
The visit is also expected to focus on Chunya’s mining and agriculture sectors, which provide significant economic opportunities but also present challenges for young people seeking employment and access to productive activities.
Mr Mwakasuluka said the UVCCM chairman would meet different groups involved in the sectors and listen to their concerns.
“We expect this visit to go beyond listening to the challenges facing young people. It should be a bridge for taking their concerns to decision-making levels where answers and action can be provided,” he said.
Chunya is one of Mbeya Region’s key mining areas and also has significant agricultural activity, making access to finance, markets, employment and productive opportunities important issues for its growing youth population.
The visit is therefore expected to test how effectively existing government and council programmes are translating into tangible economic opportunities for young people in the district.
