The Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority (TCRA) has invited public comments on applications from two firms seeking licences to provide cybersecurity services, as demand for digital security solutions continues to grow across the country.
In a public notice issued on July 31, 2026, the regulator said it had received applications under the Converged Licensing Framework (CLF) from SPT Tanzania Limited and Eximious Technologies Company Limited.
According to the notice, SPT Tanzania Limited is predominantly owned by Kenya-based Sechpoint Technologies Kenya Ltd, which holds a 99 per cent stake, while Indian national Vikas Verma owns the remaining one per cent.
Eximious Technologies Company Limited, on the other hand, is fully Tanzanian-owned, with Mohamed Kassimu holding a 95 per cent share and Amina Halifa owning the remaining five per cent.
The applications are for licences in the cybersecurity services category, a sector that has become increasingly important as businesses, government institutions and individuals face growing cyber threats.
TCRA said the applications are being considered in line with the Electronic and Postal Communications Act (Cap 306), which requires public participation before licences are granted.
The regulator has therefore called on stakeholders and members of the public to submit written comments on the applications within 14 days of the notice's publication.
"Such comments will be taken into consideration when the Authority considers these applications," TCRA said.
The public consultation process forms part of TCRA's licensing framework aimed at promoting transparency and accountability in the regulation of Tanzania's communications sector.
The notice was signed by TCRA Director General Eng. Peter P. Mwasalyanda.
The move comes at a time when Tanzania is strengthening efforts to improve cybersecurity resilience amid the rapid expansion of digital services, e-commerce, online banking and electronic government platforms.
