Young Africans (Yanga) opened their NBC Premier League campaign in commanding fashion after beating Pamba Jiji 2-0 at the KMC Complex in Dar es Salaam on Friday night.
The defending champions wasted little time asserting their authority, scoring twice in the opening 23 minutes to put the visitors under sustained pressure.
Maxi Nzengeli opened the scoring in the 17th minute, capitalising on Yanga's early dominance to give his side the lead.
The goal further lifted the hosts' confidence as they stepped up their attacking pressure in search of a second.
Their persistence paid off six minutes later when Ibrahima Touré found the back of the net in the 23rd minute to double Yanga's advantage.
With a two-goal cushion, Yanga went into the break in a comfortable position, having effectively neutralised Pamba Jiji's attempts to settle into the contest.
Pamba Jiji struggled to cope with Yanga's pace and attacking movement in the opening stages, while the hosts' ability to win possession and quickly transition into attack kept the visitors on the back foot.
Yanga, meanwhile, remained focused on managing the game and creating further openings, although they were unable to add to their tally.
The victory provides Yanga with an ideal start to their league campaign and three valuable points as they begin their bid for another successful season.
