The Mining Commission has announced new indicative prices for gold, silver and copper for August 29, 2026, providing updated benchmarks for mineral trading across Tanzania.
According to the Commission, the international market price for gold stands at USD 4,617 per troy ounce, equivalent to TZS 393,812.50 per gram.
The indicative domestic market price for gold has been set at TZS 354,431.25 per gram, while the price at buying centres stands at TZS 346,555 per gram.
The new figures provide a reference for miners, mineral traders and buying centres when conducting transactions in the domestic market, while reflecting prevailing international and local market conditions.
For silver, the Commission has placed the international market price at USD 70.26 per troy ounce, equivalent to TZS 5,992.91 per gram.
The indicative mineral market price has been set at TZS 5,393.62 per gram, while the buying centre price stands at TZS 5,273.76 per gram.
Meanwhile, the international market price for copper is USD 6.59 per pound, equivalent to TZS 38.55 per gram.
The Commission has set the indicative mineral market price at TZS 34.69 per gram, with the buying centre price standing at TZS 33.92 per gram.
The publication of indicative mineral prices is aimed at improving transparency in Tanzania’s mineral trading sector by providing market participants with clear price references based on prevailing market conditions.
The prices are expected to guide transactions at mineral markets and buying centres across the country and help miners and traders better understand the relationship between international mineral prices and domestic trading prices.
The latest figures, effective August 29, 2026, place the buying centre price for gold at TZS 346,555 per gram, compared with TZS 5,273.76 per gram for silver and TZS 33.92 per gram for copper.
