The Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) and the Journalists Accreditation Board (JAB) have agreed to strengthen collaboration aimed at improving professionalism, ethical standards and the quality of sports journalism through nationwide training and capacity-building initiatives.
The partnership was formalised on July 27, 2026, following a strategic meeting between TFF Information and Communications Officer Clifford Mario Ndimbo and JAB Acting Director General Patrick Kipangula at JAB headquarters in Dar es Salaam.
The two institutions agreed to jointly organise workshops and professional development programmes targeting sports journalists, commentators, analysts and club media officers, with the objective of raising reporting standards and promoting responsible journalism within the country's sports sector.
Ndimbo said the discussions focused on building a long-term partnership that would enhance professional competence among sports communicators while ensuring they adhere to recognised ethical and journalistic standards.
"We want to ensure that club media officers and sports journalists carry out their responsibilities with professionalism, integrity and in accordance with the ethical principles of journalism," he said.
He added that TFF would continue conducting specialised training for club media officers while encouraging those who have yet to obtain accreditation from JAB to complete the certification process.
Kipangula said the initiative responds to concerns raised by stakeholders regarding the conduct of some sports journalists, analysts and club media officers, including instances of unethical reporting and unprofessional practices.
He noted that strengthening skills and ethical awareness across the profession would help improve the credibility, accuracy and public trust of sports reporting.
The collaboration is also expected to enhance the quality of sports information available to the public while contributing to the professional development of media practitioners and supporting the continued growth of football and the wider sports industry in Tanzania.
