Tanzania courts French investors as TISEZA showcases SEZ opportunities in Paris

Tanzania has stepped up efforts to attract French investment after the Tanzania Investment and Special Economic Zones Authority (TISEZA) presented the country's investment opportunities at the Tanzania–France Business Roundtable held in Paris on July 6.

During the forum, TISEZA highlighted opportunities across Tanzania's Special Economic Zones (SEZs), the country's investment incentive framework and potential areas for collaboration with French businesses seeking to expand into East Africa.

The event was officiated by Prime Minister Dr. Mwigulu Lameck Nchemba, who urged French companies to invest in Tanzania, describing the country as a strategic destination for industrial development, job creation and technology transfer.

The roundtable also marked a milestone in strengthening private sector cooperation, with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Tanzania Private Sector Foundation (TPSF) and the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC).

The agreement paves the way for TPSF to become an official member of the ICC and supports the establishment of the ICC Tanzania National Committee, a move expected to deepen trade and investment links between Tanzania and the global business community.

Senior Tanzanian government officials attending the forum included the Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, the Minister for Minerals, the Minister for Energy and Tanzania's Ambassador to France.

They joined representatives of the private sector from both countries in business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-government (B2G) meetings aimed at identifying new investment partnerships.

The Paris engagement forms part of Tanzania's broader strategy to position itself as a competitive investment destination by promoting its expanding industrial base, strategic location and investor-friendly policies to international markets.
