The 50th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (Sabasaba) has continued to attract thousands of visitors, with Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner Albert Chalamila encouraging citizens to seize the opportunity to access business opportunities, public services and affordable products available at the exhibition grounds.
Chalamila, who toured the exhibition yesterday, said the strong turnout of visitors reflects the importance of Sabasaba as a platform that connects citizens with innovations, markets and essential services from both the government and private sector.
He said authorities were considering extending the exhibition period due to the high demand from wananchi who want more time to visit the pavilions and benefit from the services being offered.
“The response from citizens has been encouraging. We are looking at the possibility of adding more days so that more people can have an opportunity to visit and benefit from what is available here,” Chalamila said.
This year’s exhibition marks 50 years since the establishment of Sabasaba and has attracted participation from about 25 countries, making it one of the largest platforms for trade, investment and economic interaction in the country.
Chalamila said the anniversary edition provides citizens with an opportunity to explore new technologies, identify business opportunities and purchase products at special exhibition prices.
Beyond trade and business, the regional commissioner highlighted the growing role of Sabasaba as a centre for accessing important social services.
He pointed out that visitors can benefit from free eye health services, legal assistance, including land-related advice, and other consultations provided by different institutions.
“Citizens should use this opportunity because they can access many services in one place while also learning about new products and innovations,” he said.
Meanwhile, Dar es Salaam Special Zone Police Commander SACP Muliro Jumanne assured visitors that security remains stable across the city and within the exhibition area.
He said security organs have continued working to ensure that visitors, exhibitors and their property remain protected throughout the trade fair period.
“The security situation is calm, and people should continue coming to the exhibition. We have taken measures to ensure everyone enjoys the event safely,” SACP Muliro said.
Visitors attending this year’s Sabasaba said the exhibition has improved significantly, particularly through increased participation of government institutions, wider access to services and availability of products at competitive prices.
Some visitors said the combination of business opportunities, health services, education information and public consultations has made the 50th Sabasaba a valuable platform for citizens seeking solutions under one roof.
The exhibition, which brings together local and international exhibitors, continues to serve as a key driver of trade, investment promotion and economic empowerment by connecting businesses with consumers and creating opportunities for entrepreneurs across Tanzania.
