Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner Albert John Chalamila has called on Tanzanians to turn out in large numbers for the 50th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair, popularly known as Sabasaba, saying the exhibition offers valuable opportunities for citizens to access services, discover innovations and explore business opportunities.
Chalamila made the remarks on July 7, 2026, during his visit to the Mwalimu Julius Nyerere Trade Fair Grounds in Temeke District, where he inspected activities at the annual exhibition.
The Regional Commissioner toured various pavilions featuring government institutions, private companies and international exhibitors, assessing products, services and technologies showcased during the fair.
He said the 50th edition of Sabasaba has grown into a major platform connecting businesses, consumers and investors, with participation from more than 25 countries.
“Today we are at Sabasaba as part of our routine visits to see the progress of activities taking place here. This exhibition provides a great opportunity for citizens to learn, access services and discover available investment opportunities,” Chalamila said.
He encouraged wananchi to use the fair as a platform to purchase products at affordable prices, learn about new technologies and engage with institutions offering support and business solutions.
Chalamila highlighted that several exhibitors are providing free health services, while citizens with land-related challenges can visit the Prime Minister’s Office-TAMISEMI pavilion to receive expert guidance and assistance.
He also conveyed greetings from the President of the United Republic of Tanzania and urged citizens to continue supporting the exhibition by attending in large numbers.
According to Chalamila, the overwhelming public response and growing number of exhibitors could prompt discussions on extending the fair beyond its scheduled closing date of July 13, 2026.
“The turnout has been encouraging, and if the demand continues, there may be a need to consider adding a few more days so that more citizens can benefit from the opportunities available here,” he said.
Meanwhile, Dar es Salaam Special Zone Police Commander Jumanne Muliro assured visitors that the security situation in the city remains stable, urging citizens to attend Sabasaba without fear.
Muliro said the Police Force has increased security measures around the trade fair grounds and other strategic areas to ensure visitors enjoy the exhibition in a safe and peaceful environment.
“We assure Tanzanians that Dar es Salaam is calm and secure. Citizens should come and participate in the fair as others are doing and ignore misleading information,” he said.
The 50th Sabasaba International Trade Fair continues to attract businesses, innovators and consumers, reinforcing its role as a key driver of trade, investment and economic engagement in Tanzania.
