The Police Force in Mbalizi has strengthened its partnership with the community after officers donated blood and joined a cleanliness exercise at Mbalizi Health Centre, reaffirming their commitment to supporting public health and social welfare initiatives.
Led by Mbalizi Officer Commanding District (OCD) SSP Christopher Msonsa, police officers, inspectors and other ranks participated in the humanitarian activities aimed at improving healthcare services and supporting patients in need.
SSP Msonsa said the initiative reflects the Police Force’s recognition that maintaining public safety goes hand in hand with supporting the wellbeing of citizens.
“We are part of the community, and we have a responsibility to participate in activities that improve the health and welfare of wananchi. Blood donation is one of the important ways of saving lives, especially for patients who need urgent medical assistance,” he said.
He added that such initiatives help strengthen cooperation between security institutions and citizens while encouraging a culture of volunteerism in addressing community challenges.
Mbalizi Health Centre Medical Officer in Charge Dr Maginya Mpuya commended the Police Force for responding to the need for blood and supporting efforts to maintain a clean healthcare environment.
He said the donated blood would contribute to increasing stocks of safe blood required to provide treatment to patients, particularly children, expectant mothers, women experiencing complications during childbirth, and other patients requiring transfusion services.
“Blood availability remains critical in healthcare delivery. Support from institutions such as the Police Force helps ensure that hospitals and health centres can respond effectively to patients who need this service,” Dr Mpuya said.
He also called for continued cooperation between public institutions and communities, saying joint efforts are essential in improving healthcare services and promoting initiatives that directly benefit citizens.
The Mbalizi Police initiative highlights the role of public institutions in complementing government efforts to improve social services and protect the lives and wellbeing of Tanzanians.
