The Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office–Regional Administration and Local Government (PMO-RALG), Prof. Riziki Silas Shemdoe, has arrived in Sumbawanga to officiate the launch of a four-day economic empowerment programme aimed at improving public access to financing opportunities and government support services.

Prof. Shemdoe is representing Prime Minister Dr. Mwigulu Lameck Nchemba at the opening of the training programme, which will run from July 13 to 16, 2026, in Sumbawanga Municipality.

The initiative has been organised by Rukwa Special Seats Member of Parliament Jacqueline Mzindakaya in partnership with the National Economic Empowerment Council (NEEC).

Upon his arrival at Sumbawanga Airport, Prof. Shemdoe was received by Rukwa Regional Commissioner Makongoro Nyerere, Ms Mzindakaya and other regional government and party leaders.

The official launch, scheduled for Monday at Country Hotel, is expected to attract entrepreneurs, women and youth groups, people with disabilities, community organisations and development stakeholders from across the region.

The programme seeks to equip participants with practical knowledge on accessing capital, government-backed loans and other economic empowerment services available through public institutions.

Organisers say the training is intended to strengthen financial inclusion, promote entrepreneurship and expand opportunities for income generation.

Participants will also receive guidance on how to access government financing programmes and business support services, with the aim of increasing productive investment, creating jobs and improving household incomes.

The initiative forms part of broader efforts to enhance public awareness of economic empowerment opportunities and support inclusive economic growth in Rukwa Region.
