Kisarawe District Commissioner Petro Magoti has welcomed recent education curriculum reforms, saying they are expected to equip graduates with practical skills needed for employment and self-employment.
Speaking during a visit to the Tanzania Institute of Education (TIE) pavilion at the 50th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF), popularly known as Sabasaba, Magoti said the reforms mark an important step towards making education more responsive to the country's socio-economic needs.
He said the revised curriculum is designed to prepare learners with competencies that enable them to compete in the labour market while also encouraging entrepreneurship.
"The recent curriculum reforms are a positive development. It is my expectation that students across the country will continue to perform well and graduate with skills that enable them to contribute to national development," Magoti said.
The District Commissioner also underscored the importance of adequate teaching and learning materials, noting that access to textbooks remains essential for improving learning outcomes in schools.
He said the availability of textbooks and other instructional materials supports effective classroom teaching and helps learners achieve better academic performance.
The Tanzania Institute of Education is participating in the 50th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair, which opened on June 28 and concludes on July 13, where it is showcasing curriculum reforms, textbooks and other educational resources developed to support the implementation of the country's education agenda.
