The Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority (NCAA) has called on tour vehicle owners and drivers to strictly observe safety measures, ensure proper maintenance of vehicles, and fully comply with conservation rules and regulations, especially during the ongoing peak tourism season.
In its statement, the Authority emphasized that all vehicles used to transport tourists must be in good mechanical condition and regularly inspected to avoid accidents and ensure smooth operations within the conservation area.
It also stressed the importance of assigning qualified, experienced, and disciplined drivers to handle tourist transportation.
“We have entered the high tourism season. All stakeholders in the tourism sector are reminded to take necessary measures to guarantee the safety of tourists and other road users within the conservation area,” the statement noted.
The NCAA further said it will continue to provide essential services efficiently while also strengthening regular training and awareness programs for drivers of tourist vehicles as well as other transport operators within the conservation area. The aim is to improve safety standards and enhance the overall visitor experience.
The Authority observed that during peak seasons, some tour companies operate vehicles that are not in proper condition, while others assign drivers who lack sufficient experience in navigating conservation areas. Such practices, it said, pose risks to tourists and can affect the quality of service delivery.
The NCAA reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with all stakeholders in the tourism industry to ensure compliance with regulations, protect visitors, and safeguard the unique environment of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, which remains one of Tanzania’s leading tourist destinations.
