Mati Group Companies Chairman, David Mulokozi, has donated Sh158 million towards the construction of St. Mary Mother of God Parish Church in Kibondo District, in a major boost to ongoing efforts to complete the place of worship.

Mulokozi made the contribution during a fundraising service held in Kibondo, where religious leaders, congregants and community members gathered to support the development of the Catholic parish church.

The event aimed at mobilising resources to accelerate the construction of the church building and strengthen religious services for the growing number of worshippers in the area.

During the event, Mulokozi called on Tanzanians to cultivate a strong culture of giving, saying generosity plays a central role not only in supporting community development but also in spiritual life. He said acts of giving should be viewed as part of worship and a demonstration of faith.

“There are many blessings hidden in giving. God has made direct promises, including protection for you, your family and even your possessions. Everything we do should be accompanied by a willing and generous heart,” he said.

His Sh158 million contribution formed the largest single donation at the event, helping push total funds raised to Sh327,118,250.

The amount is expected to significantly speed up the construction of the church, which is intended to serve as a key spiritual centre for Catholic faithful in Kibondo and surrounding areas.

The Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Kigoma, Joseph Romanus Mlola, commended Mulokozi for accepting the invitation to serve as guest of honour and for his substantial contribution to the project.

He said the donation had played a key role in the success of the fundraising drive and reflected a strong partnership between the private sector and religious institutions in supporting community development.

Bishop Mlola also praised Mati Group’s continued investment in Tanzania, noting that the company’s activities contribute to job creation and broader economic growth, which directly benefits communities.

The fundraising success marks a significant milestone for the parish, with church leaders expressing optimism that the mobilised funds will help accelerate construction and provide worshippers with improved facilities.

It also highlights the increasing involvement of business leaders in supporting social and religious infrastructure alongside national development efforts.
