The Minister for Home Affairs, Patrobas Katambi, has issued a strong warning against any actions or statements that threaten the safety of citizens, saying the government will not tolerate anything that endangers peace and national stability.

Katambi made the remarks on Saturday in Dar es Salaam at Mnazi Mmoja Grounds during the launch of the Security, Development and Samia Programme, a new initiative aimed at strengthening national security through modern training, improved coordination, and the use of advanced technology.

The programme follows extensive studies, experience sharing, and benchmarking with countries that have advanced security systems and modern approaches to combating crime. It is expected to enhance the capacity of security organs across both mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar.

Speaking to hundreds of traders, street vendors, motorcycle taxi operators, food vendors and members of the public, Katambi said peace and security remain the foundation of every nation’s development.

He said the government’s constitutional duty is to protect every citizen, their property, and all national resources, stressing that no individual or group will be allowed to disrupt public order.

“The Ministry of Home Affairs has the responsibility to protect every citizen, every piece of property belonging to citizens, and all national resources and public assets,” Katambi said.

He further emphasized that any form of incitement, misinformation, or conduct aimed at disturbing peace will be dealt with in accordance with the Constitution of the United Republic of Tanzania.

“Any statement, action, or incitement that threatens the peace of even one Tanzanian citizen will not be tolerated. The government has a constitutional duty to ensure that all citizens live and work in a safe environment that supports development,” he added.

Katambi also reaffirmed that President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s leadership priorities remain focused on “Country first, people first, and economy first,” noting that national security plays a key role in achieving those goals.

Participants at the event, including leaders of traders, bodaboda operators, and street vendors, expressed appreciation to the Sixth Phase Government for maintaining a stable environment that allows them to conduct their businesses without disruption.

They also pledged their commitment to safeguarding peace and refusing to be used by individuals or groups seeking to destabilize the country, saying stability is essential for their livelihoods and economic progress.

The event was also attended by the Deputy Minister for Home Affairs, Ayoub Mohammed Mahmoud, Ilala District Commissioner Edward Mpogolo, Traffic Police Commander SACP William Mkonda, as well as representatives of traders, bodaboda operators, street vendors, food vendors, and members of the public.
