The winner of the 2026 Dar Boxing Derby will walk away with a brand-new car, in addition to their fight purse, as organisers seek to raise the profile of professional boxing and reward excellence in the sport.
The highly anticipated boxing showdown is scheduled for July 24, with the vehicle forming part of a broader incentive package designed to motivate local fighters and enhance competition.
Peak Time Media promoter Major Selemani Semunyu said preparations for the event were progressing smoothly and had reached 80 per cent completion, with the model of the prize vehicle to be unveiled closer to the fight date.
"We have confirmed that this year's Dar Boxing Derby champion will receive a brand-new car as an incentive. The winner will also be paid the agreed purse in accordance with the terms of their fight contract," Semunyu said.
He said organisers were putting the final touches on logistical arrangements to ensure the event meets high standards and delivers an exciting spectacle for boxing enthusiasts.
Semunyu also appealed to corporate sponsors and other stakeholders to support the tournament, noting that increased investment would contribute to the growth of professional boxing and create greater opportunities for Tanzanian fighters.
