The event, hosted at the residence of the Ambassador of Sweden in Dar es Salaam, brought together senior government officials, diplomats, and representatives from various institutions.

The Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Ngwaru Jumanne Maghembe, said the relationship between the two countries remains strong, stable, and based on mutual respect and trust.
He said Sweden has continued to play an important role in supporting Tanzania’s development efforts, especially in education, health, governance reforms, and sustainable development.
He added that this cooperation has helped improve service delivery and strengthen public institutions for the benefit of citizens.
Maghembe further said Tanzania is now focusing on expanding cooperation with Sweden into new areas such as trade, investment, technology, and innovation.
He noted that both countries share a common goal of promoting inclusive economic growth and addressing global challenges like climate change and economic inequality.
He also emphasized the importance of involving the private sector in bilateral cooperation, saying it will help create more opportunities for investment, skills development, and youth employment.
He noted that empowering young people with modern skills and technology is key to Tanzania’s long-term development plans.
The Deputy Minister acknowledged Sweden as a reliable development partner that has consistently supported reforms and capacity-building programmes in Tanzania over many years.
He said this support has contributed to strengthening governance systems and improving efficiency in public service delivery.
He added that continued dialogue and cooperation between the two countries will ensure that the partnership remains relevant and responsive to current global and regional challenges.
On the Swedish side, officials used the National Day celebration to reflect on the strong diplomatic ties and the progress achieved over the years.
They also expressed commitment to exploring new opportunities for cooperation that align with shared development priorities.
Both countries also highlighted the importance of working together at the international level to address global challenges, including sustainable development, peace, and economic resilience.
Over the years, cooperation between Tanzania and Sweden has supported key sectors such as education, health, governance, and environmental protection, contributing to improved living standards and institutional development in Tanzania.
