The Deputy Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office – Labour, Employment and Industrial Relations, Evaline Munisi, has called for stronger action to improve job creation systems and skills development programmes in the country, stressing the need to ensure more Tanzanians directly benefit from government opportunities.

Dr. Munisi made the remarks on June 4, 2026 in Dodoma during a strategic working meeting with Directors and experts from the Department of Employment and Skills Development under the Prime Minister’s Office.

The meeting focused on improving efficiency in service delivery, strengthening coordination, and ensuring that employment and skills development initiatives reach ordinary citizens in both urban and rural areas.

Dr. Munisi said the government is committed to ensuring that employment information and skills development opportunities are widely accessible, especially to young people who often miss out due to limited awareness.

She directed the department to strengthen public awareness campaigns so that job opportunities, training programmes, and empowerment initiatives are communicated in a timely and simple way that citizens can easily understand and access.

“Our goal is to ensure that every Tanzanian, especially young people, is informed and able to benefit from the opportunities available. Information must reach the people on time and in a clear way,” she said.

Dr. Munisi also emphasized the importance of innovation, discipline, teamwork, and accountability among public servants, saying these values are key to improving service delivery and building public trust in government programmes.

She further instructed the department to improve labour market data systems to better reflect the real situation of employment and skills needs in the country.

She said reliable data would help the government design better training programmes that match the needs of employers.

According to her, regular assessment of skills demand across different sectors is essential to ensure that training institutions produce graduates with relevant and practical skills that can easily fit into the job market.

Dr. Munisi also called for stronger collaboration between the government, private sector, vocational training centres, and universities, noting that such partnerships are crucial in equipping young people with hands-on skills needed for employment and self-employment.

Officials from the department, Alana Nchimbi and Jane Sorogo, thanked the Deputy Minister for her guidance and pledged to speed up implementation of key programmes.

They said efforts will be intensified to strengthen partnerships with the private sector and training institutions, improve communication systems, and ensure that more citizens are reached with employment and skills development opportunities.

The meeting reflects the government’s continued efforts to implement the National Employment Policy of 2008, with a focus on reducing unemployment and expanding economic opportunities for Tanzanians, especially youth, women, and vulnerable groups.

Through strengthened coordination and improved service delivery, the government aims to build a more inclusive labour market where every citizen has a fair chance to access jobs, gain skills, and improve their livelihoods.
