Tanzania’s national swimming team is set to be officially flagged off tomorrow ahead of its departure to Algeria for the 17th African Swimming Championships scheduled for May 5 to 10.
The team comprises 17 swimmers, both male and female, who will represent the country in the continental event.
The Tanzania Swimming Association (TSA) Technical Director, Amina Mfaume, named the athletes as Bridget Heep, Criss Dillip, Filbertha Demello, Ibrahim Igoro, Kaysan Kachra, Michael Joseph, Nicolene Viljoen, Zainab Moosajee, Zack Okumu and Fidel Kavishe.
Others in the squad are Aminaz Kachra, Etjmha Makalla, Lorita Borega, Luke Okore, Kabeer Lakhani, Collins Saliboko and Abbas Abdulali.
Mfaume said the flag-off ceremony will symbolise the team’s national duty as they head into competition aiming to deliver strong performances.
Preparations for the team have been completed at a satisfactory level, with officials expressing confidence that the swimmers will compete well, win medals and raise Tanzania’s profile at the continental championships.
