Simba SC has described its upcoming Kariakoo derby against Young Africans SC on May 3, 2026, as a decisive fixture that could determine the outcome of this season’s Mainland Premier League title race.
The club’s Head of Information and Communication, Ahmed Ally, told reporters that the match will be staged at Major General Isamuhyo Stadium, which is currently serving as Simba’s home venue as renovation works continue at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium.
He said the choice of venue was based on the quality of the playing surface rather than any intention to disadvantage their rivals.
“Among the available options, Isamuhyo provides one of the best pitches at the moment,” he said.
Ally noted that the result of the derby will have a direct impact on Simba’s title ambitions, stressing that victory is essential if the club is to close the points gap.
“Our title hopes hinge on this match. The outcome on May 3 will be crucial,” he said.
He also confirmed that players who had been sidelined by injuries, including Oura, Kibabage and Kagoma, have recovered and are available for selection ahead of the fixture.
Simba, he added, has shifted full attention to the derby after concluding celebrations of their Muungano Cup success, with preparations now focused on ensuring readiness for what is expected to be a tightly contested match.
“They will also come prepared. It is not easy for any team to accept consecutive defeats within a short period,” he said.
The club has announced ticket prices of Sh15,000 for general admission, Sh30,000 for VIP B and Sh50,000 for VIP A.
Supporters have been encouraged to secure tickets early, given the stadium’s capacity of 10,000.
Simba also said it is working with N-Card to address ticket scalping and ensure fair access for genuine fans.
Fans unable to attend have been advised that the match will be broadcast live on Azam TV.
The two sides have already faced each other three times this season, each registering one win, while Simba maintains it was denied victory in a previous draw due to what it describes as controversial officiating decisions.
