Rwanda’s Kagame visits Tanzania to boost bilateral ties

By The Respondents Reporter

DAR ES SALAAM, May 3 — Rwanda’s President Paul Kagame arrived in Tanzania on Sunday for a one-day working visit aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.

Kagame is scheduled to hold talks with Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan at the State House in Dar es Salaam, focusing on cooperation in trade, investment and regional integration.

Tanzania and Rwanda have maintained strong diplomatic and economic ties, with collaboration expanding in recent years through the Joint Permanent Commission (JPC), a framework for advancing bilateral cooperation.

Tanzania is among Rwanda’s top three trading partners globally, with trade volumes between the two nations rising steadily.

Official data shows that between 1990 and March 2026, Tanzania registered 42 investment projects from Rwanda worth about $325.53 million, creating 2,225 jobs in sectors including manufacturing, transport, financial services, natural resources and tourism.

Tanzanian firms have also invested in Rwanda across various sectors, underlining growing two-way investment flows between the neighbouring countries.
