Dar es Salaam. The National Chairman of Othman Masoud Othman on Sunday led a special meeting of the party’s Central Committee, calling on leaders to deploy their experience and judgment to help restore public confidence amid what he described as prolonged frustration among Tanzanians.
The meeting, held at the Hakainde Hichilema Hall within the Maalim Seif Headquarters in Magomeni, Dar es Salaam, brought together senior party officials to deliberate on the country’s political situation and agree on a unified position.
Speaking at the opening session, Othman said the responsibility of leadership within ACT Wazalendo goes beyond party interests and must respond to the wider expectations of citizens who, he said, have endured disappointment due to governance failures that undermine national values.
He pointed to what he termed as a decline in adherence to principles such as justice, accountability and civility, arguing that such shortcomings have weakened trust between leaders and the public.
Othman urged members to focus on building a clear political roadmap that can guide citizens toward improved governance and development outcomes.
“We must bring together our ideas and capabilities to create a direction that answers the needs of Tanzanians,” he said, adding that leadership should be anchored on vision, discipline and a strong sense of responsibility.
He also referenced the aftermath of the 2025 General Election, noting that many citizens remain disillusioned and uncertain about the country’s political trajectory.
According to him, the task ahead for ACT Wazalendo is to offer a credible alternative by focusing on solutions rather than assigning blame.
“We should concentrate on the broader interests of our nation and how to strengthen its institutions while addressing the expectations of a public that has lost hope,” he said.
ACT Wazalendo Secretary General Ado Shaib said the session was convened on an emergency basis and included participation from members of the Zanzibar House of Representatives as well as Members of Parliament, who attended as invited guests.
He said the meeting follows an earlier leadership committee session held on April 29 in Unguja under the chairpersonship of party leader Doroth Semu.
Resolutions from the Central Committee are expected to outline the party’s stance on current political developments and provide guidance on its next course of action.
Among those in attendance were the party’s Vice Chairpersons for Mainland and Zanzibar, Is-haka Mchinjita and Ismail Jussa, alongside other senior officials and delegates.
