Three separate murder incidents have shocked residents of Morogoro Region, including a brutal case in which a 64-year-old man allegedly killed his wife and severed her head following suspicions of infidelity.
Morogoro Regional Police Commander ACP Andrew Kantimbo said the incident occurred on April 4, 2026, at Mkukuzi Chini hamlet in Nyameni village, Kilosa District.
According to the police, the suspect had for a long time been accusing his wife of engaging in extramarital affairs, which investigators believe triggered the deadly attack.
Police said the man allegedly used a sharp object to kill the woman before separating her head from the rest of the body.
After committing the crime, the suspect reportedly attempted to take his own life by drinking poison.
He is currently admitted at a health facility where he is receiving treatment under police guard.
In a separate incident, police in Morogoro are holding a 35-year-old man suspected of killing his 23-year-old girlfriend by strangling her.
The incident occurred in Misegese village in Malinyi District, where the deceased was working at a small bar.
Police said preliminary investigations indicate that the killing stemmed from a domestic dispute between the couple who were in a romantic relationship.
Meanwhile, another man has been arrested in connection with the killing of a fellow farmer in what police believe was a revenge attack.
Commander Kantimbo said the suspect allegedly committed the murder following a long-standing dispute between the two men that had previously led to a prison sentence.
Police said investigations into all three incidents are ongoing.
The Morogoro Regional Police have urged members of the public to refrain from taking the law into their own hands and instead seek legal means to resolve conflicts.
Authorities warned that violence and revenge attacks continue to threaten community safety and called on residents to promote dialogue and peaceful conflict resolution.
