The Preparations Committee for the 2026 Sabasaba International Trade Fair has held a meeting in Dar es Salaam to discuss strategies aimed at improving the organization of the exhibition, which will mark 50 years since the event was established.

The meeting took place at the headquarters of the Tanzania Trade Development Authority, bringing together key officials responsible for organizing the country’s largest trade exhibition.

During the meeting, the Director General of Tanzania Trade Development Authority, Dr. Latifa Khamis, presented an initial strategy outlining preparations for the landmark event scheduled for 2026.

She said the preparations are focused on ensuring the exhibition is organized to high standards while attracting more exhibitors and participants from both Tanzania and abroad.

According to Dr. Khamis, the plan includes strengthening coordination among institutions involved in organizing the event, improving exhibition infrastructure and services, and enhancing promotion of the fair to expand participation.

After the presentation, the chairperson of the meeting, Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Aristides Robert Mbwasi, expressed satisfaction with the progress made so far in preparing for the exhibition.

He said the committee must speed up implementation of the planned activities given the importance of the 2026 event, which will mark the golden jubilee of the Sabasaba trade fair.

Mbwasi noted that the exhibition plays a vital role in promoting trade and investment while providing a platform for businesses to showcase their products, services and innovations.

The Sabasaba International Trade Fair, organized annually by the Tanzania Trade Development Authority, is among the largest trade promotion events in Tanzania, attracting companies, entrepreneurs, government institutions and international participants.

The 2026 edition is expected to be particularly significant as it celebrates 50 years of the exhibition’s contribution to Tanzania’s business and industrial development.
