The Secretary General of Chama Cha Mapinduzi, Asha-Rose Migiro, on Tuesday met a high-level delegation from the African Women Leaders Network in Dar es Salaam, in talks that focused on Tanzania’s political landscape and efforts to sustain national unity.

The delegation was led by former Presidents Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and Sahle-Work Zewde, who are in the country as part of a broader mission to engage African leaders on governance and peacebuilding.

During the meeting, Migiro briefed the visiting leaders on the political situation in Tanzania, including developments surrounding and following the October 2025 General Election.

The discussions underscored the importance of maintaining peace, stability and cohesion as the country advances its democratic agenda.

The AWLN delegation is holding consultations with various national stakeholders to assess political progress and ongoing reforms aimed at strengthening democratic institutions and governance systems.

The visit highlights the increasing role of women leaders in shaping dialogue around peace, stability and inclusive leadership across Africa.
