Students from Efforts Secondary School in Bagamoyo have gained valuable practical learning experience following an educational tour to the historic Kondoa Rock-Art Sites, one of Tanzania’s most significant cultural heritage locations.

The tour, organised by the school’s administration, aimed to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world experience by exposing students to history, technology and career opportunities across different sectors.

Speaking during the visit, the school’s headmaster, Hussein Mussa, said the initiative was designed to broaden students’ understanding of academic subjects while helping them explore potential career paths.

He explained that such tours play a critical role in shaping students’ future decisions by giving them a clearer picture of opportunities available beyond secondary education.

“It is important for students to gain practical experience so that they can better understand what they learn in class and make informed career choices,” he said.

At the Kondoa Rock-Art Sites, students were guided through ancient rock paintings and introduced to the historical significance of the area, gaining firsthand knowledge of Tanzania’s rich cultural heritage.

The learning experience extended beyond history, as students also travelled using the Standard Gauge Railway, where they observed ongoing infrastructure development and modern transport systems in the country.

The tour further included visits to key national institutions such as Mtumba Government City, the Vocational Education and Training Authority, and the University of Dodoma

At these locations, students learned how public institutions operate and contribute to national development, particularly in education, skills training and governance.

Students who participated in the tour described the experience as inspiring, saying it motivated them to work harder in their studies and plan more seriously for their future careers.

They also praised the government’s continued investment in infrastructure and education, noting that such efforts are essential in equipping young people with the knowledge and skills needed to contribute to the country’s development.
