Tanzania is harnessing digital innovation to transform its trade sector, positioning the country as a regional hub and strengthening its role in the global market.
The Tanzania Trade Development Authority (TanTrade) is leading this transformation through the CART.IS Initiative, a modern digital platform designed to simplify trade procedures, cut bureaucracy, and reduce costs for businesses.
The system provides faster, more efficient, and reliable services, enabling companies to save time and operate more competitively.
Speaking at the Unlocking Tanzania’s Trade Potential through Digital Transformation conference in Dodoma, TanTrade Director General, Dr. Latifa Khamis, described CART.IS as more than just technology.
“This is a strategic platform that positions Tanzania as a regional trade hub while strengthening our presence in global markets,” she said.
Dr. Khamis noted that the initiative supports the government’s broader economic modernization and digitalization agenda, allowing Tanzanian businesses to meet international standards and attract more investment.
The conference gathered government officials, business leaders, and technology experts to discuss ways to leverage digital platforms for faster trade, better services, and enhanced competitiveness.
With CART.IS, Tanzania is taking decisive steps toward a seamless and modern trading environment, signaling a future where businesses operate efficiently and the economy thrives.
