The Minister for Energy, Deogratius Nde jembi,on Thursday held discussions with the Tanzania Oil and Gas Importers and Distributors Association (TAOMAC) aimed at strengthening cooperation and improving the performance of the petroleum sector in the country.
The meeting, held on March 5 at the Ministry of Energy’s sub-office in Dar es Salaam, brought together government officials and industry stakeholders to discuss ways to enhance the management, efficiency and development of the oil industry for the benefit of the economy and consumers.
During the discussions, participants explored a range of issues affecting the sector, including improving regulatory coordination, strengthening operational efficiency and ensuring a stable supply of petroleum products across the country.
The engagement forms part of broader government efforts to work closely with private sector stakeholders to address challenges facing the industry and support sustainable growth in a sector that remains vital to transport, manufacturing and other economic activities.
Officials who attended the meeting included the Petroleum Commissioner in the Ministry of Energy, Mr Goodluck Shirima; the Chief Executive Officer of the Petroleum Bulk Procurement Agency (PBPA), Mr Erasto Simon; and the Director General of the Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority (EW, URA)Dr James Mwainyekule.
Leaders and members of TAOMAC also participated in the meeting, sharing their views on how collaboration between the government and the private sector can help improve efficiency in petroleum importation and distribution in the country.
