Prime Minister Dr. Mwigulu Nchemba has directed that the Spencon-Mabogini-Kahe-Chekereni road in Kilimanjaro Region be upgraded to bitumen standard to serve as a bypass and ease traffic in Moshi town.
The 31.25-kilometre road, currently under construction, was inspected by Dr. Mwigulu today, February 20, 2026, during his tour in the region.
Addressing residents in Mabogini, Moshi District, the Prime Minister instructed that the project be transferred from TARURA to TANROADS to ensure proper execution and quality standards.
Deputy Minister for Works, Eng. Godfrey Kasekenya, confirmed that the road, passing through rice and sugarcane producing areas, would be upgraded as directed.
Dr. Mwigulu also stressed the speedy completion of the Kibosho Shine-Kwarafael-International School road, a 25.52-kilometre route, with 6.4 kilometres remaining to be paved.
The Prime Minister’s four-day visit in Kilimanjaro continues with inspections of ongoing infrastructure projects and community engagements across the region.
