NSC Calls on New CHANETA Leaders to Revive Tanzania Netball

By The Respondents Reporter

The National Sports Council (NSC) has urged the newly appointed leaders of the Tanzania Netball Association (CHANETA) to be innovative in developing young talent and restoring the country’s netball prestige.

Speaking during the handover of CHANETA’s equipment at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium on February 11, 2026, NSC Sports Officer Apansia Lema highlighted the leaders’ responsibility to raise the standard of the game to levels seen in past decades.

“Leaders must promote girls’ participation, scout talent from all regions, and nurture top players who can represent Tanzania confidently in international competitions,” Lema said.

New CHANETA Chairperson Stella Mwangomale pledged to collaborate closely with her team to strengthen the sport, particularly by identifying young talent in schools and building on the foundations laid by previous leadership.

Outgoing Chairperson Dr. Devotha Marwa encouraged the new executives to continue previous initiatives and ensure that netball remains a platform to showcase Tanzania on the global stage.
