Over 1,200 stakeholders from Tanzania’s social protection sector, representing all regions of the mainland and Zanzibar, are set to gather at the Arusha International Conference Centre (AICC) for a historic conference aimed at transforming social welfare services across the country.

The conference will also witness the official launch of the 2023 National Social Protection Policy, a key framework guiding the strengthening of income security and social services for all Tanzanians under the theme: Social Protection for All – The Foundation for Development.

Organized by the Office of the Prime Minister – Employment, Labour, and Relations, in partnership with major social security funds including NSSF, PSSSF, and WCF, the meeting will provide a platform to discuss progress, challenges, and opportunities in the social protection sector.

Senior government officials, policy experts, and community welfare stakeholders will come together to develop strategies that ensure citizens are better protected.

Revocatus Kasimba, spokesperson for the Office of the Prime Minister – Employment, Labour, and Relations, said preparations are already at an advanced stage.

He stressed that the attendance of top government leaders highlights the importance of strengthening citizens’ dignity, security, and well-being.

“Citizens and stakeholders are encouraged to follow this important event, which sets a new standard for how Tanzania cares for and protects its people through strong, sustainable social protection systems,” Kasimba said.

The launch of the policy during the conference is a strategic move to ensure that government plans are clearly understood and supported by implementers and beneficiaries alike, paving the way for faster, tangible improvements in social welfare nationwide.
