Minister for Energy Deogratius Ndejembi has urged Regional and District Commissioners to strengthen cooperation in the implementation of energy projects to accelerate the delivery of reliable and affordable energy services to Tanzanians.
Mr Ndejembi made the call while addressing the Nutrition Compact Implementation Review Meeting for the 2024/25 financial year, held at Mabeyo Hall in Dodoma.
The meeting was organised by the Prime Minister’s Office – Regional Administration and Local Government (PMO-RALG) and brought together Regional Commissioners, Regional Administrative Secretaries, District Commissioners, Council Directors and Nutrition Officers from all regions of the country.
He said effective coordination between central and local government authorities is critical to ensuring energy projects are implemented efficiently and reach intended beneficiaries, particularly in rural and underserved communities.
The minister noted that weak collaboration, delays in decision-making and limited local oversight often slow project execution and undermine national efforts to expand access to modern energy.
Mr Ndejembi called on regional and district leaders to take a more proactive role in monitoring ongoing energy initiatives, addressing implementation challenges and working closely with key stakeholders to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
He emphasised that expanding access to electricity and clean cooking solutions remains a government priority, given the sector’s importance in driving economic growth, supporting small and medium-sized enterprises and improving service delivery in health, education and nutrition.
The meeting also reviewed progress in implementing the Nutrition Compact for the 2024/25 fiscal year, offering a platform for government officials to assess achievements, share best practices and explore strategies for strengthening cross-sector collaboration in achieving national development goals.
