The Chairperson of the Manyara Region Miners Association (MAREMA), Elisha Nelson Mnyawi, has applauded miners across the region for maintaining peace and stability throughout the October 29, 2025 general elections.

Mr. Mnyawi issued the remarks on Sunday during a visit by the Minister for Minerals, Anthony Mavunde, who toured the green garnet mining site at Lemshuku and the Tanzanite mining area in Mirerani, Simanjiro District.

He said the miners had shown maturity and professionalism by continuing with their activities without causing disturbances at a time when the country was undergoing a major electoral process.

“I extend my sincere appreciation to all miners in Manyara. You have demonstrated that you are responsible workers who value peace and understand that mining cannot thrive in an unstable environment,” he said.

Mr. Mnyawi noted that Manyara miners had set a positive example by distancing themselves from disorderly behaviour witnessed in other parts of the country.

“You have upheld good conduct, avoided unnecessary protests, and prioritised harmony in your work areas. This is commendable,” he added.

He further thanked President Samia Suluhu Hassan for reappointing Mr. Mavunde as Minister for Minerals, saying the decision reflects the President’s continued trust in his leadership.

“This reappointment shows the confidence that President Samia has in you. We congratulate you for the renewed mandate to lead the sector,” he said.
